Welcome 6th Graders! There was no homework given on Thursday and Friday. All classes received the Sun/Shadow Mandala Project packets on Tuesday and Wednesday. We will be completing all Mandalas by September 1, 2015 for odd classes and September 2, 2015 for even classes by the end of class. We will begin the semester reading The Westing Game. If you want to purchase a copy,keep in mind we will begin reading the book in class this week. August 26, 2015 Homework for all classes is writing definitions and sentences for each word. The list was passed out in class. There is a "typo" on the vocabulary list. "Eth" is a Greek root. Odd classes (1,3,5) vocab is due tomorrow (Thursday) at the beginning of class. Your test is on September 3, 2015. Even classes (4,6) vocab is due Friday at the beginning of class. Your test is on September 4, 2015. The weekend should be spent studying for your vocabulary test and finishing the mandala (see above for deadlines). Next Week beginning August 31, 2015 Students my begin working on their Weebly projects. Student will receive a handout with very specific directions. Parents, please give your child an email they can use to sign up to use the free weebly website creator. It is a class project. You may use your charts to add information to your website (the character charts were handed out in class). There is an app called overdrive which allows you to download copies of books for free. You need a library card from any public library to sign up. This is a free option for students that would like to read at home. Next week's vocabulary is posted on the left of this page. If you want to get a head start on the next week's homework, you may find the definitions and start writing sentences for each word. Websites for the Westing Game are due 9/25 for all classes (1,3,4,5,6). There should be a page for each character on your website. Each page for each character should have all the items listed in the handout. September 4, 2015 Parents, This year the school changed it's online gradebook program the day before the school year began. There are different systems, methods, pages, keys. Due to the new program, my class gradebook is not "live" yet. I would encourage parents to speak to their child and ask if the child has turned in all assignments. The assignments due are listed above. Grades will be posted by parent conference time and at the 5 week and 10 week. As soon as all gliches have been worked out of the program, the gradebook will go "live.' September 16 Update: If you are not near page 130 in the book, you need to plan out how you will finish the reading. In class on the front board several free options are listed in order to read at home. As I have stated daily in class, if you are not keeping up with the reading, you will need to also read at home. You can read the PDF, listen to the audio, check it out from the local library. ( all these options have been explained daily in class for the last two weeks). Downloading overdrive is another option. If you are not halfway done with the Sam Westing Obituary (half is having answered all the questions on the handout) then you are behind. You may want to do some work at home. Thursday and Friday you will be given 30 minutes to finish up the Sam Westing Obituary. You will have until 11:59PM on September 18 to turn in the assignment for credit through google classroom (you are not sharing it, you are turning it in digitally).
